Art Therapy

Art is a Form of Therapy

Art helps us to find ourselves. Art is a type of therapy. The goal of art is for people to express themselves and uncover their emotions using various mediums of art as a tool of recovery. The basis of the idea of using art as a form of therapy is that creating something new has therapeutic property when it is done regularly. Thanks to art therapy, individuals with special needs (for example: disabled people, cancer patients, people with alzheimer or autism spectrum disorder) can express their hidden emotions, fears and feelings in a more comfortable and colorful way, apart from verbal communication. Many scientific studies have shown that art therapy reduces the stress, fear and anxiety (anxiety) of patients and empowers them emotionally.

Ezgi Bilgin received her art therapy education in the USA and took other essential classes such as positive psychology and cognitive behavior, and wrote her master degree thesis about art therapy.

She is working on this subject scientifically and artistically with her experiences.

In art therapy sessions different kinds of materials are used, such as watercolor, acrylics, oil-paints, dyes, glues, charcoal powders, clay, stones & wood. All these – oils, liquids, pastes, powders & chunks – are perceived through our senses.

It is possible to have an art therapy session individually, as a family, online or in the studio.
